Feature Spread!!

I have finished my feature spread!!!!! I think this was the hardest page to complete , because I had all the writing and photos, but to make the composition look aesthetic and fit was the hassle. The magazine cover has three people on it so the feature spread was going to be about them three. I began with an intro paragraph that started with a drop cap since most fashion magazines always use that. I then wrote three separate paragraphs about us three individually as if it was an interview. Finally, I got to put the pictures in a spot where they looked good and got it to work well with the writing.

The Writing: Honestly, writing about us was the greatest part, because it is so close to the reality of how I feel, so it was just fun to get to make up this life that is something I aspire to do. I came up with a qoute that related to what each of our paragraphs were mainly about and typed it all in Word. I got to make up stories while also being super realistic because me and Jennifer are both aspiring artist, and Denise loves acting so it was perfect. I think since what I wrote felt so close to home, the writing flowed effortlessly and made me feel so happy. I literally read it to everyone! After proof reading it and fixing a couple mistakes it was ready to go and be transferred from Word to InDesign.

The Layout: WOW, this was so difficult. I did not have much luck at finding refrences online on feature spreads except for the pictures of W magazine that I researched. At first I was going to make the pictures be closer together, but when I would add the writing it looked so off. Like the writing looked so squeezed together and did not flow. SO, after freaking out for 2 hours on not knowing how to fix it, my friend told me to consider putting the pictures in a zig zag format. Once I did that, everything clicked and I got to divide it in a way that looked nice.

The Editing: To make all the different pictures still go well together I decided to edit them slightly. I did not want to mess with the pictures so much that it lost its quality, so I went on this app called VSCO. Never have I used such an app, but when I was making my Pinterest board, I saw that alot of people used this app to edit their pictures and they looked amazing. I saved alot of these pictures that showed how they edited their pictures on VSCO and went to do it myself. At first I was straight up doing what I saw in the picture, but then it just began seeing what worked for what I needed. The things I altered was that I added a filter, changed the brightness, and the grain. This helped all the pictures go well together and fit perfectly.
