FINAL PRODUCT: MUSE

Image
FINALLY!!!!! Everything is done and I could not be happier with the results. This process has been a a very long one, but I have learned a lot along the way. I bettered my skill in the editing realm using applications such as, Photoshop, InDesign, and Facetune. I found out what it is like to run a photo shoot and how it is not as glamorous as it seems. Nothing throughout the making of this magazine was easy, but it was all very rewarding to see the final product and watch it all come together as I put each piece together. Overall, this was a very fun project that I enjoyed doing and the magazine looks just how I pictured it.  COVER:  TABLE OF CONTENTS: FEATURE SPREAD:

Table of Contents

I finished my table of contents!!! I honestly thought this would be the easiest, but somehow I managed to take so long trying to make everything look right.I began with laying out the boxes on InDesign of where the photos will be placed and then input my headlines. I then began coming up with more titles to go under the headers other than the ones I already had in mind ( mentioned in my table of contents planning post) . Once I had everything set up I input the pictures and the writing and began just trying to make it proportional and look aesthetic. For the editing in my photos, I did the same process as I did for the images on my feature spread ( Used VSCO to make the images all work together and look cohesive, by adding a filter, changing the brightness, ad grain). I noticed that fashion magazines tend to include the month the issue is from so I included the date over the title, in a different font to differ it from the serif fonts that takes over the whole magazine. I ma...

Table of Contents Plan:

Image
For my table of contents I feel it will be easier... I hope. When I did my research on W magazine I noticed that their table of contents is usually two pages, so that is what I will be doing. I also will not use much images, due to how table of contents in fashion images usually have 1-4 images. The headlines I will use are going to be similar to the ones W magazine uses ( Fashion + Features, Who"s Next, What's Hot, Beauty, and Departments). What goes under these headlines will be typical things that magazines feature. For instance, " Top 10 accessories" or " "Latest Trends". I plan to include the credits for who took the pictures for each "page" I place on the table of contents. I do not want to make random names or use the same name for each "photographer" so I will use my friends name, since I think they have been so helpful during this process, in the sense that they have helped me narrow down some of my ideas, and I greatly a...

Feature Spread!!

I have finished my feature spread!!!!! I think this was the hardest page to complete , because I had all the writing and photos, but to make the composition look aesthetic and fit was the hassle. The magazine cover has three people on it so the feature spread was going to be about them three. I began with an intro paragraph that started with a drop cap since most fashion magazines always use that. I then wrote three separate paragraphs about us three individually as if it was an interview. Finally, I got to put the pictures in a spot where they looked good and got it to work well with the writing. The Writing: Honestly, writing about us was the greatest part, because it is so close to the reality of how I feel, so it was just fun to get to make up this life that is something I aspire to do. I came up with a qoute that related to what each of our paragraphs were mainly about and typed it all in Word. I got to make up stories while also being super realistic because me and...

Feature Spread Plan

Image
Okay sooo, for my feature spread I am going to do an interview of all three girls featured in the cover since for W magazine the feature article always is about the people on the cover. . I am actually excited to write this because I get to write about me and my friends and I get to make us anyone I want us to be in the fashion world. I do not know If I should include writing on both pages, and instead have one page that is a photo and the next one has the text or not. I am most likely going to keep the background of the pages white, since W magazine does that and many more fashion magazines. I want to include the color of the masthead somewhere on my feature spread, so I think I will include it on the title of the article and quotes from the people interviewed. The hardest thing right now is not the writing, but I do not know what pictures to pick from allll those photos we took. I know that most of the pictures will be of either all three of us or us in pairs so tha...

Official Cover

Image
I THINK I DID IT!!! I finally have a cover for my magazine, and yes I am using the photo that I had originally wanted to use which is fun, The picture still is not the greatest quality, but it is way better than it was before seeing as how before it was pix-elated and now it is not. For my cover I went the more simplistic way with not much anchorage that surrounds it, because the magazine W for the most part has rather simple covers with a a beautiful image, the names of the people featured, and the type of issue it is. I chose mine to be an art issue, due to how W magazine has art issues and I am an artist so, it made sense to me. The Editing: I managed to not have to change the background on Photoshop, due to how it transferred well on InDesign. The editing I did do though is that I lowered the brightness through my regular camera settings. I felt the need not to use  a filter because with the bright light source in the back the photo originally has like a faded filter look alr...
