House Style Analysis

After viewing ten different presentations analyzing different magazine covers and their house styles, I have learned about what I will need to do when I make my presentation and what I will have to keep in mind when I create my own magazine.

For an amazing presentation, I found that clear audio is extremely important to make it more professional; having the presentation be automatic also makes it go very smooth and easy. Also, speaking fluently and as if one is having a conversation to whomever might be listening to the presentation makes the listener feel comfortable. Not reading from the actual text in the presentation and actually elaborating on the audio helps show how you are engaged in the presentation.

Things I learned for when creating my own magazine is that the font and placement of the title should be memorable and should keep the same style throughout multiple copies. For instance, Rolling Stone magazine has its masthead always at the top of the magazine with the same font and with colors that switch from red to white. I also learned that the anchorage should include words that draw the viewer in. For example, words like “New,” “The Best,” or “Coolest” make the viewer want to read the magazine more and find out what is it all about. Colors included in your magazine should be chosen depending on who your audience is. For example, Seventeen uses bright colors that attract young viewers, while Vogue uses simple and sophisticated colors that aim for an older audience.
